Two men have been arrested after officers spotted a vehicle in Southampton on cloned number plates into the early hours of this morning (30 November).
It comes after a grey Vauxhall Insignia was sighted on Millbrook Road West just after midnight – which had allegedly been seen acting suspiciously a few weeks prior in the local area – with officers approaching two men who were seen near to the vehicle at the time.
One man had attempted to flee but after a short foot pursuit by an officer, he was detained. Whilst the other man had begun to engage with another officer on scene.
Following enquiries, a 21-year old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, drug-driving, driving without a licence and driving without third party insurance.
Whilst another 21-year-old man from Southampton was also arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.
They both remain in custody at this time.
