Officers investigating a burglary at a property in Ringwood have arrested a man.
It comes after we received a report of a burglary on Fordingbridge Road at around 9.10pm last night (3 November) – whereby an outbuilding had been broken into and damaged using a 4x4 vehicle.
This vehicle was later founded abandoned by police and recovered.
Further police enquiries identified a man known to local officers and he was later stopped in a vehicle at the junction of Burley Road and Dial Close in Bransgore.
The driver was detained whilst a search of the vehicle was conducted by officers at the roadside. Items including a sledge hammer, a crow bar, drill, screwdriver and a large ratchet were located and seized.
A distinctive jacket seen on CCTV in relation to the alleged burglary on Fordingbridge Road was also located and seized.
A 46-year-old man from Totton was arrested on suspicion of burglary dwelling with intent to steal and going equipped for theft.
He remains in custody at this time.
