A man has been charged following an alleged robbery attempt in Sandown.
Police were called shortly after 10pm on Saturday 12 November with reports that a man had tried to rob a taxi driver in Station Avenue and threatened him with a knife.
The victim drove away and nothing was stolen.
Following enquiries, Nicholas Butcher, aged 37, of Allotment Road in Niton has been charged with attempted robbery and possession of cannabis.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court this morning (Monday 14 November).
