Police officers investigating a number of assaults on an Eastleigh bus have arrested a man.
It comes after a man allegedly became threatening and abusive towards a bus driver at around 10.30pm on Saturday 5 November following an altercation in relation to another passenger.
A member of the public intervened and asked the man to leave the bus in an attempt to aid the driver – but was assaulted as a result. The 64-year-old man received minor facial injuries.
The man then left the bus whereby it is reported that he assaulted a teenage boy – causing no injury – before he began to behave in a threatening manner towards a vehicle, which had to reverse and drive around him for fear that he would provoke violence.
Another man also reported being assaulted by the same man.
Officers worked with local CCTV operators and a man matching the description given, alongside the various reports from members of the public, was located and detained.
A 30-year-old man from Bishopstoke was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault and using threatening and abusive behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
He was later released on conditional bail until Friday 3 February 2023.
