Insp Simon Tavender, Special Constable of the Year
A number of volunteers have been recognised at an awards ceremony, celebrating the time they give up to support policing in Hampshire.
The Citizens in Policing Awards marked the contribuions of those who volunteer in a variety of roles with Hampshire Constabulary.
Chief Constable Olivia Pinkney was in attendance at the event, held in Netley in April.
Inspector Simon Tavender was named Special Constable of the year at the awards, recognising his leadership and commitment within the Special Constabulary, and the dedication and time he has given to developing teams in Fareham, Gosport and the Isle of Wight.
Terry Bryant - Cadet Leader of the Year
Our Community Speedwatch Engagement Team won Special Constabulary team of the year, for their work supporting the many speedwatch schemes running across Hampshire.
The awards for volunteers went to Dave Collins, for his work providing maintenance for our Marine Unit boats, and to the Selborne Community Speedwatch team.
While we also recognised our cadets at the awards, with Dylan Nelson named Cadet of the Year, Terry Bryant awarded Leader of the Year and the Andover Cadet Unit won Team of the Year.
The force was also marked the long service of a number of Special Constables and volunteers.
Special Constabulary Team of the Year
Across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, Special Constables volunteer a minimum of 16 hours a month, working closely with regular officers to help police their communities.
