Arrest made in Southampton rape investigation

We have made an arrest as part of our investigation into a rape in Southampton.

We were called at 11.24pm on March 8 to a report of a rape against an 18-year-old woman in Riverside Park earlier on that evening.

A 25-year-old Southampton man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and remains in police custody at this time.

The woman continues to be supported by specialist officers.

Officers will also be carrying out reassurance patrols in the area over the next few days.
