A man has been jailed for drug offences in Southampton.

Damian Dorobisz, 42, of Milner Court, Southampton, appeared at Southampton Crown Court on Monday (25 July) having pleaded guilty to the following:

-Possession with intent to supply a Class A drug

-Two counts of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs

-Acquire / use / possess criminal property

He was sentenced to two years, nine months in prison.

On 6 March this year, at 10.30pm, officers were on patrol in Southampton city centre when they saw a black BMW parked at the end of Bellevue Road.

Officers conducted enquiries and spoke to Dorobisz, who was in the drivers seat. He said he was waiting for a friend.

They then searched him and the vehicle.

In the boot of the vehicle, officers found a suitcase filled with £3,000 of cocaine, £1,720 of cannabis and amphetamine worth £2,460.

These were seized along with £4,200 in cash, weighing scales and a knuckle duster which were found in the car.

While he was in police custody, officers obtained a warrant to search his home address in Milner Court where a zombie knife was found on display. This was also seized along with several mobile phones.

The drugs and paraphernalia seized will be destroyed.

DC Rhys McDonnell from Western Investigations was the lead officer in the case. He said: “Dorobisz’s arrest came about thanks to the proactive policing of my colleagues, which has led to the removal of a cog in the drug dealing machine in Southampton.

“As shown by what they found in his car, the harm drug dealing does to our city extends beyond the drugs themselves – it is the weapons and violence that so often goes hand in hand.

“We hope this result shows that we will work hard to disrupt drug supply networks in Southampton and bring offenders to justice, making our city a safer place.

“If you have any information about drug dealing in your neighbourhood, please report it to us. It helps us build a stronger picture of the issue to ensure we have officers in the right place at the right time to make arrests, such as in this case.”
