Officers have charged a Waterlooville man following an incident in Havant on Wednesday, 19 January.
Martyn Yates, aged 35, of Cunningham Road, Waterlooville has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
It comes following an altercation between two groups of people in Tidworth Road, Havant, at around 2pm on Wednesday 19, January.
Armed units were sent to the scene to ensure the safety of the local community and those involved.
Yates has been remanded into custody to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court today, Friday, 21 January.
A second man, aged 31, from Portsmouth was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, violent disorder and possessing a controlled Class A drug. He has been questioned by officers and released under investigation while our enquiries continue.
