Officers have been investigating an assault which took place at Blake Court in South Street over the weekend.
We want to reassure residents that this was an isolated incident, and a man has been charged in connection with this.
Michael Christopher Jenkins, aged 31, of Felix Road in Gosport has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
This follows a call to police at 1.44am on Saturday 5 February to an incident where a man in his 60 sustained an injury to his forehead which required hospital treatment, but was not life-threatening.
Jenkins was remanded in custody to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court today (Monday 7 February).
