A man has been arrested in connection with a car being broken into in Southampton.
At 1.21am today (14 February) we received a report that a man had broken into a car in Petworth Gardens and rifled through the glove box. Nothing appeared to have been stolen. Officers attended the area but the man had left the scene.
We received another report at 2am that a man was trying car doors in Croydon Close.
Officers attended and at 2.30am, in Tangmere Drive, a 34-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of attempted theft from a motor vehicle.
He remains in police custody at this time while officers conduct further enquiries.
Several items were seized from the man, including three mobile phones, 30 Euros, 3 US dollars, a torch, a bag of loose change and a car key. Work is being conducted to locate the owners of these items.
