A man has been arrested following a robbery in Southampton city centre.
At 10.21pm yesterday (21 February) we received a report that a man had threatened two men with a knife in Above Bar Street and demanded cigarettes and a lighter, which they gave to him.
Shortly afterwards we arrested a 24-year-old Southampton man on suspicion of attempted robbery and possession of a knife in a public place and he remains in police custody at this time.
Keeping you safe while you are socialising in our night time economy is a priority for us.
If you see anything suspicious, please speak to one of our officers on patrol, or call us on 101. This can help us make sure we have enough officers in the right place at the right time.
Always dial 999 if it is an emergency.
