A man has been arrested as part of an investigation into the rape of a woman in Southampton.
At 7.39pm yesterday we were called to an address in Portsmouth Road following reports a woman had been assaulted.
Shortly afterwards, at 8pm, officers arrested an 18-year-old man in the area on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
After speaking to the victim to get her full account, the man was further arrested on suspicion of criminal damage to property under £5000, rape of a woman over 16 years old, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and threats to kill.
He remains in police custody.
There is no wider risk to the public at this time.
