Officers responding to a burglary in progress in Ringwood have arrested a man.
At around 10.15pm last night (2 February) residents of a property on Kings Arms Lane were alerted to a noise outside in their rear garden.
Upon investigating, a man was seen to be searching a shed in the garden and was spoken to by the homeowner and quickly fled the scene. Nothing has been reported as being stolen.
Officers were deployed and after conducting initial house-to-house and CCTV enquiries, located a man matching the description provided by the victim a short distance from the property.
A 42-year-old man from Fordingbridge was arrested on suspicion of burglary with intent to steal.
He remains in custody at this time.
