Portsmouth man charged in connection with shoplifting offences in the city centre

A man has been charged with a number of shoplifting offences following an arrest by Portsmouth's City Centre Unit this morning (Friday 2 December).

 

While conducting proactive patrols, officers spotted and arrested a man who was wanted in connection with a number of shoplifting incidents.

 

Luke Rawson, 34, of Estella Road, has been charged with six counts of theft from a shop in connection with the below incidents:

 

• On Friday 5 August more than £200 worth of clothing was taken from H&M on Commercial Road.
• On Monday 3 October coffee worth £178 was taken from the Sainsbury’s store on Guildhall Walk.
•  On Saturday 8 October cleaning products worth more than £50 were taken from Tesco Express on Isambard Brunel Road.
• On Sunday 23 October various items worth £128 were taken from Poundland on Commercial Road.
• On Saturday 19 November £330 worth of clothing was taken from Matalan on Commercial Road.
• On Tuesday 22 November clothing worth £250 was taken from H&M on Commercial Road.

 

Rawson has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates Court this afternoon (Friday 2 December).
