Officers investigating an assault in the Havant area have arrested a man in connection with the incident.
It comes after a woman was assaulted at the Meridian Centre in Havant on Thursday 3 November at around 2.30pm.
The victim – a woman in her 20s - was walking down a set of stairs in the Meridian Centre when she was approached by a man unknown to her. As he passed her, he allegedly reached out and grabbed her leg with some force before walking away.
The woman was not injured.
Police conducted initial enquiries to identify the person responsible - and as a result of an appeal and the public’s support – officers have since arrested a man in relation to the assault.
A 23-year-old man from Havant has been arrested on suspicion of assault by beating.
He was further arrested on suspicion of a number of un-related matters including sexual assault on a female, attempted robbery, using threatening / abusive / insulting words / behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence, stalking without fear, alarm or distress and harassment without violence.
He has since been released on conditional police bail until Monday 20 March 2023.
