A man has been jailed today (Tuesday 7 September) following an incident that happened at an Isle of Wight pub over the weekend.
Police received a report of an altercation that took place at around 12.15am on Saturday 4 September, at the S Fowler & Co Wetherspoons pub on Union Street in Ryde.
It was reported that 30-year-old Sean Lloyd-Fagan had tried to provoke a man at the bar by repeatedly touching his beard, before backing the man into a corner as he continued his persistent and unwanted behaviour.
After the victim tried to protect himself, a fight broke out which saw Lloyd-Fagan throw multiple punches and seemingly try to bite the victim – who has not yet been identified by police.
Security staff managed to restrain Lloyd-Fagan and eject him from the pub.
He was subsequently arrested and charged by police with affray, before appearing at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court today.
Lloyd-Fagan, formerly of Sibden Road in Shanklin, admitted the offence and was jailed for 18 weeks.
