A serial burglar has been jailed for three years and four months after admitting a string of burglaries in Farnborough.
Charles Brown, 50, gained access to a property on Newfield Avenue via a kitchen window in the early hours of Saturday 28 November last year.
He then stole a number of items, including a purse that contained £60 in cash, a debit card, trainers and spare keys for other properties.
Brown, of no fixed abode, but from the Farnborough area, pleaded guilty to dwelling burglary and theft when he appeared at Winchester Crown Court yesterday (Wednesday 3 November).
As well as pleading guilty to that offence, Brown also admitted an additional five dwelling burglaries.
He requested that the court took the other five offences into consideration.
Brown was jailed for a total of 40 months.
Detective Sergeant Chris Whittington, from Northern CID’s Op Hawk team, said: “We take all reports of this nature extremely seriously and our dedicated team works tirelessly to bring people who commit these crimes to justice.
“We are fully aware of how distressing it is to be a victim of burglary - it is a serious offence which leaves people feeling vulnerable and unsafe in their own home.
“I am pleased Brown has now been sentenced and I hope this outcome is a reminder that we will take action against offenders who think it is acceptable to enter someone’s home and take their property.”
