Officers have arrested a woman following an assault in Southampton.
The incident happened at around 12.15om yesterday, Thursday 18 March, on West Park Road in Southampton.
A man in his 70’s was walking on West Park Road when he was approached by a woman who hit him twice over the head with a bottle. The man walked away but the woman followed him and continued to shout abuse whilst making further attempts to assault him.
Members of the public intervened and helped detain the woman until officers arrived.
The man sustained minor injuries to his head.
A woman, aged 44, from Southampton, was arrested on suspicion of attempted GBH and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
She has been released from custody on police bail while enquiries continue.
