Officers responding to reports of a burglary in progress in Lyndhurst have arrested a man.
It comes after a man was seen acting suspiciously in the early hours of Sunday 11 July in a garage area, behind properties on Foldsgate Close in Lyndhurst.
Officers located a man in a vehicle nearby to the scene and conducted a search. A weapon, a quantity of cash and an electric bike were located and seized as a result. The man then arranged with officers to attend a voluntary interview at a reasonable hour that evening (11 July) but committed further offences once at Lyndhurst Police Station.
A 52-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary, using threatening / abusive / insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear or provocation of violence, possession of a firearm without a certificate, two counts of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and possession of a bladed article in a public place.
He remains in custody at this time.
