Officers investigating a serious assault that took place in Southampton have charged a man.
Jessie Cross, aged 24, of Lawn Road, Southampton has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, assault by beating and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
It comes after officers attended an incident at 2.38pm on Thursday, 24 June in Raven Road, Southampton, after a man in his 40’s was hit over the head with a hammer.
The man was taken to Southampton General Hospital with serious, yet not life threatening injuries. He has since been discharged.
Cross appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court today (Wednesday, 21 July) and has been remanded to next appear at Southampton Crown Court on 18 August.
Another man, aged 48, from Waterlooville was initially arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. He was released under investigation.
