Appeal for witnesses following fatal collision on A27 Kanes Hill

We are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the A27 Kanes Hill Bursledon, in the early hours of this morning (July 17).

At around 01.19am, a black Audi A3 travelling eastbound and a blue Ford Focus travelling in the opposite direction, collided head-on.

The passenger of the Ford Focus, a 18-year-old woman from Southampton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

A 36-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of driving whilst over the prescribed limit, dangerous driving, failing to stop following a road traffic collision and causing death by Dangerous driving.

Officers are making enquiries as to the exact circumstances of the collision and would like to hear from anyone who may be able to help them.
