Police officers investigating various offences, including shoplifting and assault, in Hedge End have charged a man.
The charges come after a man was threatened with a whiskey bottle and another man and a women were assaulted at around 6pm on Friday 12 February at a Tesco supermarket on St. Luke’s Close.
Shane Luke McCarthy, aged 26, of no fixed abode has been charged with one count of theft from a shop, one count of common assault and two counts of assault by beating.
He was released on conditional bail until Thursday 25 March, when he will appear at Southampton Magistrates Court.
