Our investigation into burglaries linked to doorstep sales on the Isle of Wight is continuing.
Yesterday (Thursday 23 December) we arrested a 43-year-old man from Nottinghamshire on suspicion of burglary.
He has been questioned by officers and released on police bail while our enquiries continue.
He is due to return on bail on January 20, 2022 to Southampton Central Police Station and has conditions not to enter the Isle of Wight.
The investigation is in relation to a report we received on 1 August this year, when a man entered the home address of a woman in her 90s from Freshwater, left some household items in her home and then took money from her purse whilst she lay in bed.
The same woman was targeted again on 25 November, during a similar incident in which money was again taken.
Typically we have received reports that elderly and vulnerable people have been visited at their home address, and have been charged extortionate prices for standard cleaning products such as dish cloths.
Our enquiries into these incidents are ongoing.
