Investigation update: man arrested in connection with a serious assault in Southampton

We have arrested a 29-year-old man from London in connection with an incident that happened just before 3.30pm on Weds 24 November in Southampton.

We were called to the junction of Ascupart Street and Golden Grove just before 3.30pm where it was reported a man in his 40s had suffered serious injuries to his abdomen. His injuries were consistent with being stabbed.

As part of our enquiries, we arrested a 30-year-old woman on suspicion of attempted murder. She was questioned by officers and released on bail until December 23 to allow for further enquiries.

Today (Thursday 2 December) we have arrested a 29-year-old man from London on suspicion of attempted murder.

He remains in police custody at this time.
