Officers in Southampton are issuing crime prevention advice after receiving nine reports of theft from motor vehicles in recent days.

Items have been taken from vehicles in the following locations:

  • Claudeen Close
  • Midanbury Lane
  • Priory Road
  • North Road
  • Broadlands Road
  • Cheriton Avenue
  • Northfield Road
  • Honeysuckle Road

The majority of thefts have taken place overnight between 7pm on Friday, 27 August and 9am yesterday morning, Tuesday, 31 August.

In many cases items such as wallets, bank cards and ID documents were stolen. Tools were also stolen from one van.

A catalytic converter was stolen from a Honda Jazz parked in Cheriton Avenue sometime between 1.45pm and 3.50pm on Monday, 30 August.

A number plate was stolen from a vehicle in Northfield Road sometime between 5pm on Monday, 30 August and 9am Tuesday, 31 August.

A second number plate was stolen from a vehicle in Honeysuckle Road sometime between 7.30pm on Monday, 30 August and 3.05am on Tuesday 31 August.

We are encouraging anyone who has been affected to report it to us so we can build up a bigger picture of the areas being targeted and when.

In addition, if you witnessed anyone acting suspiciously in these areas between these dates, or have CCTV covering these areas that may have captured something, please contact us on 101 or online at https://www.hampshire.police.uk/ quoting 44210345037.

Some of the vehicles involved had been left unlocked.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind motorists to make sure you remove valuables from your vehicle and lock it.

Make sure to physically check that doors and window are locked, especially if you have used the remote to lock the vehicle, then look inside again to make sure you’ve not left anything.

Further information and advice on how to keep your vehicle secure can be found on our website: https://www.hampshire.police.uk/cp/crime-prevention/theft-from-a-vehicle/vehicle-safe-and-sound/
