Officers investigating a serious assault that took place on Thursday (26 August) in Stanton Road, Southampton, have arrested a man.
We were called at 2.43pm to reports of a group of around six men fighting in the street with weapons.
During the incident, a man in his 20s sustained injuries to his head and back and was taken to hospital for treatment where he remains today in a stable condition.
A 31-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion of wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent. He has been released from police custody on conditional bail while our enquiries continue.
Officers are still keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
