Man sentenced to seven years in prison for child sex offences

A man has been sentenced to seven years in prison having been found guilty of non-recent child sex offences in Farnborough and Aldershot.

Gordon Ingram, 64, of Gordon Road in Southbourne, West Sussex, was found guilty of four counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 14 years, three counts of indecent assault on a boy under the age of 14 years and one count of indecent assault on a boy under the age of 16 years, following a trial at Winchester Crown Court.

He earlier pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing indecent photographs of a child and one count of engaging in sexual communication with a child.

The court heard how Ingram had sexually assaulted five children across a period of ten years, between 1994 and 2004.

Ingram’s offences were reported to the police in January 2019, after one of the victims disclosed what had happened to a relative.

Ingram was sentenced to a total of seven years imprisonment. He was also made subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and will also be placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.

Detective Constable Thomas Bailey from Hampshire Constabulary’s Northern Criminal Investigation Department said:

“Ingram’s offending took place over a prolonged period of time, and his actions had a significant impact.

“I hope this sentence goes some way in helping those who he affected move forward.

“I also hope this sentence will encourage others who have suffered this type of abuse, no matter when it happened, to come forward and speak to us. We take allegations of this nature extremely seriously and work hard to bring offenders to justice.”
