Officers investigating an incident where a man racially abused a member of security staff at Lidl, have charged a man.
Marcus Connell aged 49 , of Northam Road, Southampton, has been charged with theft from a shop, racially aggravated assault and criminal damage.
It comes following an incident at Lidl, on the High Street, Southampton, just before 7.30pm on Saturday 25 April.
Connell is due to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court this morning (Monday 27 April).
We want residents and businesses to know that we continue to tackle crime during these challenging times and we will not tolerate any abuse directed at our keyworkers. Anyone who commits this type of offence can expect to be dealt with robustly.
