Man charged with sexual assault after incident in Newport

Costel-Georgica Murgulet, aged 31, of Doctors Lane, Shorwell, Isle of Wight has today been charged with sexual assault on a female, common assault and indecent exposure.

The charge comes after it was reported a man exposed himself outside of Fever Nightclub in Newport at 10.50pm on Friday 2 August and later at 12.50am on Saturday 3 August two 16-year-old girls reported they were approached and attacked by a man on Godric Road.

Murgulet appeared before Newport Magistrates court today (August 5).

Officers investigating would urge anyone who was in the area of Godric Road on late Friday night or early Saturday morning to get in contact.
