We are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision on the A303 this morning (September 6).
Police were called around 11.20am to a report of a collision on the westbound carriageway near Sutton Scotney.
The incident involved a gold/grey coloured Volvo XC40 and a white Toyota Aygo.
An 80-year-old woman and an 81-year-old man from Leicester, who were the occupants of the Volvo, have sadly been pronounced deceased as a result of this collision.
Their family have been informed.
The occupants of the Toyota sustained minor injuries.
The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident, but has since fully reopened.
To assist our initial enquiries, officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision.
We also want to hear from anyone that saw either of those two vehicles in the moments leading up to the collision.
Anyone who believes they have any information or dash-cam footage which may assist us, however relevant you believe it to be, is asked to get in touch.
You can call 101, quoting the reference number 687 of Friday 6 September. Alternatively, you can submit this online via our website.
