Officers investigating Basingstoke burglary appeal for member of the public to come forward

Officers investigating a burglary in Basingstoke would like a member of the public who found a victim’s driving licence to come forward.

We were called at 12.31am on 14 October to a report that an address on Solbys Road had been accessed. A wallet, which contained bank cards and a driving licence, was stolen.

Officers attended the scene and stopped a Honda car nearby. Following a search of the vehicle, officers located gloves, torches and suspected Class A and Class B drugs.

A 51-year-old man from Leatherhead and a 46-year-old man from Basingstoke were arrested on suspicion of burglary dwelling – with intent to steal and possessing a controlled drug of Class A and Class B.

They have been bailed with conditions, pending further enquiries.

Following the burglary, a member of the public located the stolen driving licence on Kempshott Lane – around three miles away – and hand delivered it back to the victim.

Officers would like to speak with the person to establish exactly where it was found so they can carry out further enquiries in that area.
