Police investigating an incident in Havant have arrested a 58-year-old man on suspicion of a sexual offence.
It was reported to us that between 5 and 5.10pm on Wednesday (6 November), a 12-year-old girl was approached by a man unknown to her at a bus stop on Barncroft Way.
The man spoke to the girl briefly and then attempted to touch her inappropriately over her clothing. The girl called for help from members of the public and the man left the area. She was not physically hurt.
As a result of our enquiries so far, we have arrested a 58-year-old man from Havant on suspicion of attempting to cause a female to engage in sexual activity. He has now been released from police custody on conditional bail, to allow for further enquiries to continue.
We would still like to hear from anybody who was in the area at the time of the offence and saw anything that may assist our investigation. If you have any information please contact us on 101 quoting 44240484373.
