It was reported a car had collided with a 35-year-old man from Portsmouth.
He received treatment at the scene and was then taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition.
An investigation is underway into the exact circumstances of the collision, and officers wish to speak with anyone who may be able to assist with these inquiries.
