Officers investigating a suspected arson in Eastleigh are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
We were called shortly after 5am on Monday 11 March to a report of several vehicles alight in Drum Road.
The call came from our colleagues at Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service.
Three vehicles were completely destroyed during the incident, while two others were damaged. A nearby house was also affected due to the heat from the fire.
Officers are investigating the events leading up to the fire and enquiries remain ongoing at this time.
Detective Inspector Emma Barrow said: “The information we have to date suggests the fire was a deliberate action and that one of the vehicles was intentionally set alight.
“It appears the fire has then subsequently spread to the other four vehicles.
“We would like to hear from anyone who was in or around the area of Drum Road in the early hours of Monday morning, particularly between 4am and 5am.
“We are also very keen to hear from anyone who saw two individuals running from the scene shortly after the fire started.
“If you have any footage, including CCTV, mobile phone, dash cam, or doorbell camera, please get in touch with on 101 and quote incident number 44240104689.
“You can also call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
“We’d like to reassure the public that we do not believe there to be any ongoing wider threat to the community.
“Officers will continue to complete reassurance patrols in the area over the coming days, and will be on hand to speak to those living nearby and answer any questions you may have."
