We are appealing for witnesses and information following reports of a fire incident in Chineham.
Officers were called at 4.26am today (4 July) to reports that a bin was on fire on Reading Road. No injuries were reported.
We attended the scene and a 68-year-old man from the Basingstoke area was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
He remains in custody while our enquiries continue.
Officers are working hard to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and are appealing for witnesses.
