We are appealing for any witnesses to come forward following a suspected sexual assault in the Totton area.
It comes after a woman was reportedly approached by an unknown man at a bus shelter on Commercial Road at around 11am yesterday morning (16 July). The man attempted to engage the woman in conversation, before proceeding to follow her onto a bus – a T3 or T4 bus.
While travelling on the bus, the man is alleged to have leaned over and kissed the woman without her consent, before then approaching the woman again when other members of the public had left that area of the bus.
As part of our enquiries, a 23-year-old man from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. He has since been released under investigation, pending further police enquires.
However, we are keen to hear from anyone who may have been on the bus travelling between 11am and 11.15am yesterday morning from the Commercial Road area of Totton.
Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to call 101, quoting crime reference 44240301366.
