Officers are appealing for witnesses and information following a report of an assault on a bus in Basingstoke.
It was reported that between 5pm and 5.05pm on Thursday 1 February, a woman was assaulted by a man believed to be known to her.
The Newbury-bound bus departed from outside Sainsbury’s in the town centre and it is alleged that the woman was hit a number of times.
The man and woman then left the bus together, two or three stops after Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital.
A witness made the report and officers are yet to speak with the woman about the incident.
The woman has been described as being aged between 60 and 80. She was walking with a black cane and had short curly hair. She was wearing a floral waterproof coat.
The man has been described as being elderly, of thin build and significantly taller than the woman. He was wearing a black coat, glasses and a red baseball cap.
Since this was reported to us, officers have been carrying out various enquiries and are now appealing for witnesses.
Were you on the bus at the time? Did you witness the incident? Do you know who the woman and man are?
If you are the woman who was assaulted, or you know who she is, please get in touch with us.
