We are appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal collision in Lymington earlier this afternoon (Tuesday 27 August).
We were called at 1:54pm to a report of a collision involving a blue Vauxhall Meriva and a pedestrian on Milford Road.
Emergency services attended, but despite their best efforts, a 77-year-old woman from Lymington, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her family have been informed and will be supported by officers.
We have been at the location today and a section of Milford Road remains closed while we carry out enquiries.
As part of our investigation, a 60 year-old woman from Lymington has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. She remains in police custody at this time.
We would like to hear from anyone who may have been passing through the area around 1:50pm this afternoon and saw what happened or the moments leading up to it.
We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who has dashcam footage which could help us with our investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting the reference 44240367530. Alternatively, you can go online and submit information via https://www.hampshire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/
