Officers investigating the serious assault of a man in Southampton in the early hours of Saturday morning (10 August) are appealing to the public for information.
We were called shortly before 1am to reports that a man in his 20s had been assaulted on Shirley Road, near to Malmesbury Road. He sustained a serious head injury and was taken to hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged and his injuries are not thought to be life threatening or life changing at the current time.
Police attended the scene and arrested a 22-year-old man from Romsey and an 18-year-old man from Southampton on suspicion of section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent. They have both been released from police custody but remain under investigation while our enquiries continue.
Officers investigating this incident would now like to hear from anyone with any information about what happened who have not yet spoken to police.

We are keen to hear from anyone with any information, particularly regarding what happened in the moments leading up to the incident. We are also keen to hear from anyone who was driving through the area and has dash cam footage which captured what happened.
