Witness appeal following dangerous driving incident in Basingstoke

We are appealing for witnesses and information following a dangerous driving incident in Basingstoke.

At 5pm yesterday (10 April), officers were involved in a pursuit with a man driving a grey Volkswagen Golf after he failed to stop on Aldermaston Road.

Officers then followed the vehicle onto Ringway North, then Ringway West – towards the Winchester Road roundabout and then Ringway South – towards the Hackwood Road roundabout.

The vehicle then turned onto Hackwood Road before stopping on Applegarth Close.

A foot pursuit ensued and officers detained a man a short time later. Officers conducted a search at the scene and seized a bag of suspected Class A drugs, two phones and cash.

A 53-year-old man from Basingstoke was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A.

He was also arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle dangerously and failing to stop a vehicle when required. He remains in custody while our enquiries continue.

Officers continue to investigate this incident, but we would also like anyone else who saw what happened to come forward, particularly if they have dashcam footage.
