We are investigating after receiving reports of an altercation involving at least four people in a car park between Charlton Road and Chantry Street.
The incident took place around 5pm on Tuesday 10 October. It was reported that there was an altercation and that some of those involved were holding weapons, including a baseball bat.
Officers attended. No injuries have been reported and no arrests have been made at this stage.
An investigation is now underway.
Chief Inspector Hayley O’Grady, Test Valley district commander, said: “Our enquiries are at an early stage, and we are working to establish what took place and identify all of those involved.
“To be clear, we won’t tolerate this kind of behaviour in our town. Carrying weapons in this way is simply not acceptable and we won’t hesitate to take action or look at all of the powers available to us.”
