Officers investigating a suspected arson in Southampton are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
We were called shortly after 1am this morning (Sunday 12 November) by our colleagues at Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service to a report that a blue Ford Fiesta was alight on Hawkhurst Close.
We believe that the car was set alight intentionally and are currently investigating this as an arson.
Investigating officers would like to hear from anyone who was in or around the area of Hawkhurst Close between 12.45am and 1am and saw anything suspicious.
We are particularly keen to hear from a man who was seen in the area at the time, who we believe may have information to assist our enquiries. The only description we have of him at the current time is that he was wearing light coloured clothing and carrying a Bag for Life from The Range.
Were you in the area at the time? Did you see a man in light coloured clothing carrying a Bag for Life from The Range?
Perhaps you were driving through Hawkhurst Close or the surrounding areas and have dash cam footage which may assist our investigation? Or maybe you live in the area and have CCTV or Ring Doorbell footage that may have captured something?
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting reference 44230462504.
