We are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Southampton on Thursday (15 June).
We were called to a report that at approximately 5.45am a white HGV had emerged from the Red Funnel Ferry terminal and collided with a set of traffic lights on Town Quay.
Despite the best efforts of emergency services and members of the public who stopped to help, the driver, a 40-year-old man from Bournemouth, was later pronounced dead in hospital.
His family have been made aware and are being supported by specialist officers.
We are now asking for anyone with information about the collision who has not already spoken to the police to come forward.
Were you in the area at the time? Perhaps you saw a white HGV leaving the Red Funnel Port in the run-up to the collision?
We would particularly like to speak to anyone with relevant dash cam footage.
If you have any information about this incident, please report online via our website or call 101 quoting reference 44230236833/Operation Gerrera.
