Officers investigating the serious assault of a man in the Shirley area of Southampton are now appealing to the public for any witnesses to come forward.
On Saturday (9 December) at approximately 10.30pm a man in his 20s was assaulted by a man who stabbed him in the shoulder outside of the Griffin Pub on Anglesea Road.
The victim attended hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.
Since this incident was reported to us we have been carrying out a number of enquiries in the area, including CCTV scoping, house to house enquiries and speaking to those at the scene.
Investigating officers believe there are a number of people who were outside of the pub at the time who will have seen what happened and have not yet spoken to police. We also believe that some witnesses may have footage of the incident on their phones.
We are now appealing for anyone who has any information about what happened to get in touch. Perhaps you saw what happened or have footage of the incident? Maybe you were driving past the pub at the time of the incident and have dash cam footage that captured something?
Southampton Chief Inspector Chris Douglas said: “We know that incidents of this nature are understandably concerning to members of the public, however I would like to reassure you that detectives are working hard in order to establish the circumstances of what has happened and identify and locate the person responsible.
“I’d also like to reiterate that we do not believe there to be any risk to the wider public in relation to this incident. We will continue our enquiries and would like to hear from anyone who may have information to assist our investigation. Whether you saw what happened, have mobile phone footage or dash cam footage if you were driving past, please get in touch, no matter how small or insignificant the information you have may seem.”
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting reference 44230503509.
