We are appealing for witnesses after a woman reported to us that she was sexually assaulted over the weekend in Portsmouth.
It was reported to us that at approximately 11.50pm on Sunday (11 September) a woman in her 30s had been sexually assaulted by a man unknown to her at Canoe Lake, on the pathway next to Cumberland House Natural History Museum.
The woman involved is being supported by specialist officers and an investigation is underway.
We are currently following a number of lines of enquiry and are now asking the public for assistance.
We have a limited description of the man involved at the current time, however he is described as being aged in his 50s or 60s.
We appreciate that this took place late at night, however we would like to hear from anyone who was in the area or driving through the area around the time specified and may have seen or heard something.
Perhaps you saw a man acting suspiciously or have dash cam footage from the area at the time.
Anyone with any information, no matter how small it may seem, is asked to call 101 quoting 44220371289. Alternatively, go online and submit information via https://www.hampshire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/
