We would like to issue an alert to all car owners following a number of thefts from vehicles in recent days.

Officers have received a number of reports near the Eastrop area of Basingstoke recently and we want to remind residents to be extra vigilant and make sure their vehicles are secure.

We want to reassure you that we are taking these reports seriously and we are following up all lines of enquiry available to us.

  • Between 10pm on Thursday 25 November and 7.30am on Friday 26 November, a white Peugeot Partner van was broken into on Lytton Road. Five sets of car keys were stolen along with approximately £100 in cash (crime ref: 44210474786)
  • At around 10pm on Friday 26 November, a blue Honda Jazz was broken into on Eastrop Lane. A sat nav, worth approximately £100, was stolen from the vehicle (crime ref: 44210476638)
  • Between 4am and 6.40am on Sunday 28 November, a blue Audi Q2 was broken into near Jubilee Road (crime ref: 44210477855)

We are now appealing for witnesses and any information that will help the investigations, as well as offering people crime prevention advice.

Please make sure you:

  • Park your vehicle in a secure area, such as in a garage or behind locked gates of possible, or in easy view of your or a neighbour’s house. Alternatively, park in well-lit and busier areas
  • Do not leave tools or equipment on view inside the vehicle
  • Where possible, remove valuable items from the vehicle overnight and store them in a secure location
  • Consider fitting an appropriate alarm system
  • Make sure to physically check that doors and windows are locked if you have used the remote to lock the vehicle

If you have any information about the incidents or have seen any suspicious behaviour in the areas mentioned above, please call 101 quoting the relevant crime reference numbers above.
