We’re appealing for witnesses and information after a children’s play area was set alight in Daisy Dip, Southampton over the weekend.
At 8.38pm on Saturday, 10 July, we received a call from our colleagues at the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, reporting a suspected arson at a children’s play park in Daisy Dip off Bluebell Road in Swaythling. The fire caused damage to the rubber flooring.
Following initial investigations carried out by the fire service, the cause of the fire is being treated as suspicious.
Inspector Sharath Ranjan from Southampton North Neighbourhood team said “We know arson has a huge impact on the local community, especially when it damages facilities that are there for everyone to enjoy.
“Arson also not only destroys property, but can put lives at risk.
“We’d like to speak to anyone who has any information that might help us identify the person or people responsible for starting this fire.
“Did you see anything? Have you heard people talking about being involved?
“Anyone who has any information that may help our investigation is asked to call us on 101 quoting 44210272408.”
Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at https://crimestoppers-uk.org/
