We are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted close to the junction of Onslow Road and St Mary's Road on Friday night (July 9).
A 47-year-old man was walking on his own around 11pm when he was assaulted by a man unknown to him.
He suffered serious injuries to his arms and head in the incident and has been taken to hospital.
Officers investigating the circumstances of the assault are keen to hear from anyone with information which may assist them.
The man alleged to have carried out the assault is described as being mixed race, between 18 and 22-years-old, around 5ft 9ins tall, of slim build and with short brown hair. He had a bicycle with him.
