We’re investigating a hate crime which took place in Basingstoke last night (Saturday 17 April). During this incident, a man suffered facial injuries.
At around 11pm, it’s alleged that a man in his 20s was subjected to homophobic abuse by a group of people near Basingstoke railway station.
The man continued walking to a nearby bus stop where it’s reported that he was then assaulted by two members of the group.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances, and we’re appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to report this to police.
As part of enquiries, a 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, both from Basingstoke, have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
They remain in custody at this time.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting 44210145908.
