We are currently investigating an assault on a 31 year old man in the Gershwin Road area of Basingstoke. The incident is believed to have occurred between 10.30pm and 10.53pm last night (Thursday, October 31). The victim has been taken to hospital with head injuries. His condition is currently described as life threatening. A second victim, a 58 year old man from Basingstoke, also received hospital treatment after being sprayed with an unknown substance. His injuries are not believed to be serious. Officers are in the Gershwin Road area making enquiries to establish the circumstances of the incident.
